RE: RCAP establishes Koop research grant

RCAP is pleased to anounce today, on the eve of Dr. C. Everett Koop’s 95th birthday tomorrow October 14 and in honor of his outstanding legacy, a new endowed grant program for doctoral student research related to AIDS/HIV prevention. The grant, the Surgeon General C. Everett Koop HIV/AIDS Research Grant, will be awarded annually by RCAP on a competitive basis to support research of doctoral students nationally beginning the 2012-2013 academic year. The announcement for applications for the initial awarding will be sent to the Rural Network and posted on the RCAP website in spring 2012.

This is an exciting day in that this grant helps assure that many of our future public health leaders will be touched by our beloved Dr. Koop. RCAP is honored to have Dr. Koop as part of our grant/scholarship program.
