Last week, Center for Positive Sexuality was thrilled to attend UCLA’s Sextravaganza event as a part of their larger Sex Week. This was our third year tabling at the event, sharing information with students, faculty, staff, and others about all the education and research our organization does. Students, in particular, were interested in learning more about the options we have for internships.
In addition to a convention or “expo” sort of environment in the main hall, there were concurrent sessions on a variety of sexuality topics, including a mini-BDSM Fact & Fiction panel presented by CPS, along with other classes on dance, crafts, sex toys 101, and others.
Attendees of Sextravaganza were treated to many fun and informative booths displaying organizations, companies, educators, and other resources both on and off campus. Some of the stand outs included Sex Nerd Sandra, peer educators “UCLA Sexperts,” a Condom Couture Fashion Show, and A Walk in their Shoes (where men don high heels and walk through a mini-obstacle course reading posters about women’s experiences with catcalling). To add to the fun atmosphere, we brought along a game of Bondage Barbie bead toss. Participants seemed to get a kick out of these kinky dolls as they played for a variety of prizes! (The game was harder than it looked!)
We wish we’d taken even more photos! Hopefully next year we can!
