Hello,

My name is Peyton Jones, and I am a doctoral student in the School of Professional Psychology at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. I am reaching out to inform you of my dissertation study about relationship satisfaction within BDSM/kink power exchange relationships (Wright State University IRB approved #06640). I am conducting this study to fulfill doctoral dissertation requirements under the supervision of Dr. Michelle Vaughan.

The purpose of my study is to gain a better understanding of the unique factors that contribute to relationship satisfaction among kinky individuals who incorporate power exchange in their relationship(s). I am seeking self-identified kinky individuals who are currently in or have within the past 12 months been in one or more intimate kink-oriented relationships that involve power exchange in some way. To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years of age, a United States citizen, and fluent in English.

I hope that the findings will help improve clinicians’ understanding of kink to help reduce stigma and improve mental health services for kinky people. My study simply requires participants to complete an anonymous online survey that takes approximately 25-30 minutes. Additionally, participants will have the opportunity to enter a lottery for a chance to receive either a $50 Amazon gift card or have a $50 donation made in their honor to a charity or organization of their choice that supports sexual health and sexual freedom.

I invite you to share this information and the link below with anyone who meets the study criteria. I understand that your schedule is busy and your time is valuable. For this reason, I am thankful for your efforts to share this opportunity to help advance mental health professionals’ understanding of the BDSM/kink community and work toward ending the stigma against such practices. Everyone’s participation is voluntary and confidential. Individuals may choose not to answer any specific questions for any reasons and may withdraw from the study at any time.
