Director’s Message

Hello. I am Emily Prior and I am the Executive Director for the Center for Positive Sexuality. It has long been my dream to have a source through which I could promote the positive, healthy aspects of sex and sexuality through open, honest, and accurate education.

If you are interested, you can read a short biography about me on the Board of Directors page.  Also, I encourage you to read the Blog.

Emily Prior, Executive Director, Research AffiliateWe’ve had an amazing summer, and we hope you have too! There are many things to look forward to as we get into our fall season.

We’re starting to take requests for presentations. If you are teaching a class (or have a club or organization) that would like to see one or more of our presentations, please make sure to submit your request as soon as possible. We fill them on a first-come first-serve basis based on the availability of our volunteers. The earlier you submit a request, the easier it is for us to schedule volunteers for your presentation. You can fill out a request here: Need more information about the presentations we offer?

Journal of Positive Sexuality debuts a new issue this fall, with articles on peacemaking, kink community education (how people learn about kink in community settings), how attitudes toward public displays of affection vary by sexual orientation and gender identity (of both viewers and actors),  and the use of online directories for sexual and gender minorities seeking sex-positive therapists.

Call for proposals has opened for SexPosCon20 coming February 21-23, 2020. Get your sex positive presentations ready and submit your proposal by the September 15 deadline! Early registration begins in October. If you are a current or recently graduated student, make sure to enter your proposal for a possible Student Research Award. We want to thank our current sponsors of the conference, Woodbury University, Dr, Omar Minwalla, and Drs. Veronica and James Elias.

We also have lots of other exciting news that we can’t quite reveal yet. We’re rolling out a new program soon and have acquired an amazing sponsor that will allow us to reach many more areas, conduct more research, provide free student registrations to the conference, and so much more! It’s been an exhilarating summer!

Thank you for continued support! We look forward to seeing you at upcoming events.
