Emily Prior, Executive Director

Executive Director

Emily E. Prior is the Executive Director for the Center for Positive Sexuality. For more than 15 years she has been teaching formal and informal classes about a variety of sexuality-related topics including BDSM lifestyle, Polyamory lifestyle, Gender, Introductory and Advanced Human Sexuality Courses for Psychology and Sociology departments at universities, Teen Sexuality topics for Planned Parenthood Los Angeles and others. Emily has studied human sexuality and gender topics from a variety of perspectives, including Psychology, Sociology, and Anthropology and won the Vern Bullough Award for research. She is a member of The Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality, American Sociological Association, Pacific Sociological Association , Community-Academic Consortium for Research of Alternative Sexualities (of which she is on the Research Advisory Committee), Los Angeles Sexologists Associates, and Phi Kappa Phi.

Director of Planning & Development/ Educator
Carlos J. Populus is Director of Planning and Development for the Center For Positive Sexuality. A member of the Threshold Society since 1988, he has served as president of that organization for six of the last 16 years, and has served terms as Treasurer, Program Director, Orientation Chair and other positions over the last 20 years. He has served as co-chair for the annual Bizarre Bazaar, for Leather Leadership Conference Six in Los Angeles, and been involved in organizing countless other events, including such events as the Environmental Media Awards in 1997, and the first International Mars Rover Conference in 1996.As an educator, Carlos has taught classes and seminars on human sexuality, astronomy and planetology, U.S. and Military History, and various other topics for over 20 years. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, with an emphasis on Clinical Psychology, earned minors in History and Fine Arts and an Associate of Science degree in Physics.He lives in Pasadena, and has held positions as a writer and editor for major publications and websites, worked as a public educator at a major astronomy facility, and in public relations for a small Beverly Hills company. Director of SecondLife Center for Positive Sexuality

Cielle “Skye” Williamsis Director of the Center for Positive Sexuality in SecondLife as well as the creator and moderater of the Positive Sexuality Advocates SL Group. She has been active in SecondLife since 2007. You can find her there under the avatar name: Fire Kimagawa. She is currently a college student in Maine studying Captive Wildlife Care and Education and minoring in Psychology.She has also been a guest on the Center’s show “Is This Normal?” as an advocate for furries and people in relationships with Transgendered people. Ryn, Communications Director
Ryn van Roosendaal
Communications Director
Ryn van Roosendaal is the Center’s Communication Director. She has been a writer her entire life, and has been published in everything from poetry anthologies to scientific journals. She is currently Managing Editor for Elan Woman™ Magazine, which is based in Southern Utah, and she freelances for numerous online and print publications. In her spare time she blogs, writes erotic fiction and takes care of a varying number of foster cats. Ryn is a cancer survivor and strongly believes that illness and disability are no barrier to sexuality and she spends time with the crew at Southern Utah Pride showing support for those with “alternative” lifestyles.
